Frequently Asked Questions

There are various boat types that can use an ACEL Power electric outboard system including speed boats, pontoons, displacement hulls, sailboats, barges, and semi-displacement hulls. Our electric propulsion system is a versatile and eco-friendly solution that can be adapted to a wide range of applications including pleasurecraft, commercial and defence. Our engineers work with your team to customize to meet your requirements. Contact us to discuss your boat type in more detail.

Typically, travel range is quantified in distance, not time. The 50HP (37.25 kW) battery pack offers a range of about 50 kilometers (31 miles) , while the 75HP (55 kWh) pack allows for approximately 200 kilometers (about 125 miles) at a speed of 5 knots (5.75 MPH or 9.25 KPH). Yes, with Acel motors range anxiety is a myth.

A kiloWatt (abbreviated as 'kW') is a unit of power measurement. A single kilowatt is equal to 1,000 watts of electrical energy (enough power to light up ten 100-watt incandescent lightbulbs) and a single kilowatt is roughly equal to 1.34 Horsepower.

An electric motor with 50 brake horsepower (50 BHP) as output is therefore rated at about 37.3 wW of power. For clarity and ease, we publish all our power ratings for motors in HP to make it easier to compare to other engines. Note that electric motors also develop full torque through the entire revolution per minute (RPM) range, giving them a performance edge over their gasoline and diesel counterparts.

The electric outboard propulsion system consists of several key components that work together to generate and control power. These components typically include:

  • Outboard Motor: This is the primary component responsible for generating thrust and propelling the vehicle or boat through the water.
  • Battery: The battery pack stores electrical energy and provides power to the outboard motor.
  • Battery Control Module: The control module manages the power supplied to the outboard motor, ensuring smooth and efficient operation.
  • Smart Charger: This is where the battery pack can be recharged. It allows for the connection of an external charger to replenish the energy used during operation.
  • Digital Throttle: The throttle allows the operator to adjust the speed and power output of the outboard motor and allows the boat to go forward or in reverse direction.
  • Vehicle Control Unit (VCU): The VCU or onboard computer manages various aspects of the vehicle's operation and communication between components and provides a touchscreen interface for the operator and runs and infotainment system.
  • Smart Key: A wireless key when tapped on the throttle activates the motor
  • Master Switch: The master switch is used to power on or shut off the entire propulsion system, providing an essential safety feature and a way to conserve battery life.
  • Power and Communication Cables: These cables connect all the components in the system, allowing for the transfer of electrical power and data between them.
  • Propeller: The propeller is the part that creates thrust by rotating in the water, pushing the vehicle or boat forward.
  • Intelligent Power Supply Modules: A device that provide and manages low voltage systems onboard. It controls the 12V on NMEA cable, working status of the cooling pump, 12V outlet ports for customized usages and LED .etc

The cost of ACEL POWER’s electric outboard is 10 to 15% lower than that of a traditional gasoline-powered outboard.

ACEL Power offers a comprehensive, technologically advanced, and reliable solution for electric outboard motors, backed by certifications and features that ensure superior performance, safety, and peace of mind.

  • Hardware and software Integration: Our entire system is seamlessly integrated with hardware and software (HW+), providing a user-friendly, drop-in solution for a hassle-free experience.
  • Unique battery technology: While many other brands use NMC batteries, ACEL Power employs lithium ion (LFP) battery technology, enhancing the overall stability and safety of our systems.
  • Heating in battery: ACEL Power's technology includes heating in the battery, which is a crucial feature for maintaining optimal performance in various weather conditions and extending battery life.
  • Integrated low and high voltage system: Our technology seamlessly integrates low and high voltage systems, allowing onboard electronics and accessories to run efficiently using our intelligent power supply (IPS) at a lower 12V, streamlining your vessel's power management.
  • Higher peak power: Our electric outboard motors offer 30% more peak power than their nominal power, ensuring better acceleration and performance when you need it.
  • Predictive and remote maintenance: ACEL Power goes a step further with predictive and remote maintenance features, ensuring your system's reliability and minimizing downtime.
